Begin with the business
A useful website starts with an understanding of what you offer, who it is for and what people need to do. Those decisions give the design somewhere meaningful to go.
About Sitewoven
I design and build websites for UK businesses through Sitewoven. I bring the pages, visual design and development together around what your business needs to explain and what your customers need to do.
Working with me
The first conversation is about what you offer, who your customers are and what your current website needs to change. That gives us a useful starting point for the design.
I set out the proposed pages, work and costs in a written quote, so you can decide what fits before paying a deposit. The quote also covers revisions, timing, launch and handover.
The examples on this site are concepts for fictional businesses. They show the design approach, with their purpose and limits made clear.
How a project takes shapeA few guiding principles
A useful website starts with an understanding of what you offer, who it is for and what people need to do. Those decisions give the design somewhere meaningful to go.
Type, imagery, spacing and interactions should feel like parts of the same idea. The visual direction needs to carry through to an ordinary service page and a practical form.
A visitor should be able to find the information they need and understand what an action does. Familiar navigation and direct language give the more expressive parts room to work.
A website needs to handle small screens, changing content and everyday use. Ownership, editing and upkeep are part of the project conversation from the start.
See the thinking in practice
Form & Field and Good Things are self-initiated concepts for fictional businesses. Each explores a different visual direction and customer task.
They show visual design, responsive composition and how a website can communicate the identity of a business. They are not commissioned projects, and they do not claim client results.
